Take mongohq.com for instance: they range from free all the way up to $6545/m, and "call us for more"...

Or unemployment would raise sharply, taxes would raise sharply (to pay BI), then companies would relocate to a foreign country. Or wages would raise, prices would raise (inflation), then BI would not anymore afford a minimal standard of liv

"The incentive is not to work": I meant to contest that assertion made by previous commenter. Actually I really don't think there's any valid incentive. "the incentive is for employers to offer market value for thei

I often hear this argument, but it sounds wrong to me. Benefits are cut when you start working, and resumed when you stop again. Did you consider the fact that salaries WILL be lowered to compensate for BI ? If BI is 1000, that 1200 paying

It's all a matter of skills, and scarcity. These jobs are low paying because competition is high between low-skilled candidates: "if you don't want to mob the floor, you're fired, I'll find someone else". Do th

The problem described here is about the lack of transactions only... The relational nature of pgsql or mysql is not what makes a difference when you want "all or nothing" insertions or updates...

It was a temporary bug, your github is back online. Building on the OpenSource CKAN project is a good thing. Similarly, you should thrive to help people build on OpenData. What really concerns me is the actual data that's made availabl

Sorry if I hurt you. I deeply regret that the government made such an announcement with "nothing" to show. Just imagine a startup making such an announcement on HN, to show only XLS documents, and calling it OpenData... Well, th

I just tried to explain that even guaranteed minimum income can discourage people from working. Basic income will have even more severe counter productive effects. I don't see AT ALL why it would not.

I don't agree with you. If you find a job at 1200$/m you keep 1200$/m in your pocket, not 200... The real problem is if you get paid 80% of that for breathing, because of government assistance! When you want to help some ind

So you'll agree that there IS a problem IF the left wing is pushing towards BI: reducing administration (or state) footprint is more libertarian than anything. It's only credible if libertarians ask for BI... How funny!

That's pure bs: www.data.gouv.fr is full of XLS and DOC documents. No raw data, only aggregated statistics. Useless. Documents and data are not the same... I'm french, and NOT proud of it

Say I'm jobless, and I make 1000/m. If I find a job that pays 1100 : - with BI I'll make 1100. That's the value of work. - without BI I'll make 100 + 1000. The value of work is 100. With BI, people will think "

There's a logic problem with Basic Income. They want people to think either: 1- it will help me earn more (because I make less than the BI) 2- it won't change anything for me (because I already make more than the BI) But obviously

Being french too, when I first read about PRISM, I thought the american people would fight it fiercly. I just read about the french equivalent and I know the french people will never try to fight it. Legal or not, it's our liberty they
