Watermarking makes a lot more sense than DRM. If your name is on the film you just bought, you will not want to publish it on p2p.

"R1...More generally, no software function should run during flight unless it is needed." This means, that even using the most reliable language and trying to test as much as possible, there is always a risk of an overseen bug.

Just change your mindset. If you are an expert in your technical domain, what is obviously wrong for you may be difficult to grasp to a non technical. Imagine that your boss is very smart but that all you says looks like a foreign language

Presentations is not his job. I remember in 1992 when he has tried to compile the kernel using g++ mode. Compiling C in C++ mode was a way to detect more errors and to support migration toward C++. A lot of nasty bugs in g++ were discovered

I really like instructions like this because I understand easily what needs to be done. Probably the content of the script will also be easy to read. Of course, I will never do a copy paste of these instructions. I will redirect to a file a

I fully agree that the evaluation system can not assess reliably the level of the student. This may reduce the value of the diploma, but this does not affect the quality of what we can learn using these courses.

I think that office on linux will always be a second citizen software. Linux users will have less power to force usage of open tools if microsoft office is available on linux.

I think you fail on two software engineering principles: * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle * you should adapt the way you think about programming to the language you are using. This is shell, not Ada.

I think the short flags are more useful when using directly the command (outside of a script). It is faster to type man grep in a window and to type grep -Eo than to type grep --extended-regexp --only-matching. At first, I even didn't reali

I love Perl because it is really easy to structure your code to match your way of thinking. And it is so fast to get the job done. I am a javascript beginner. For me, it is a lot more difficult to read than Perl. I very much agree with the

I enjoyed a lot stripe 2.0 and I have watched Dan Bone on coursera. In the article, they just split the password in two. 128bit/2 -> 64bits. This remains two much for brute force like TCP port method or timing attack.
