E.g. node.js + socket.io. The event-driven concurrency model makes it easier to write servers without worrying about race conditions and thread locks while also having less overhead from a heavy thread implementation. For some applications

I think this just helps make it even more painfully obvious that email is the single point of failure for the vast majority of web site authentication security. This takes out a step, but it doesn't change what is already possible for an a

Is there a discussion with details on the issue? Parallels and VMWare release new versions all the time for compatibility issues, they just fix them before the update comes so their new version is ready. Should VirtualBox just fix the bug

Would it work if the 3rd-party devs were the customers? I.e. anyone using XYZ's app gets in for free because XYZ company pays the usage fees (out of it's ad revenue). That would avoid app.net trying to shut down services that customers lik

Is the obvious fix to make the programming port available only from the inside of the room? That's where the screws for physical bolt locks go. And you can still have a DC power port on the outside in case of a powered-down door, just no p

I still wonder how they did that. The classic problem with reference counting is correctly releasing cycles, which ARC handles by allowing "weak" references. How does MacRuby know when to insert a weak reference as opposed to the usual "s

I wonder how this compares to monetizing iOS apps with in-app purchases of game currency and/or items (or even Rovio's "Mighty Eagle"). There seems to be some market in games that would be called casual games (in my understanding, all iOS

Very good points about why web apps have quality issues. Some of those issues are not necessarily inherent limitations of the technology. We don't have to use Javascript, that's just what the standard currently is. Flash was a possible an

This reasoning sounds a little lacking, but it's probably a disconnect from my understanding of "mobile" and "cloud" vs. the commenter's intended meaning. Clearly we need different form factors. We have smart phone size and tablet size.
