I don't see anywhere in the announcement that Visual Studio will be cross platform. That would require porting WPF, which isn't mentioned as being ported. It looks like they are concentrating on making web platforms multiplatform.

The iOS and Android part don't make sense to me. Surely you won't be running VS on your iPad? So are they saying it has support for compiling to iOS and Android? Wouldn't they need to mention Xamarin in that sentence for it t

Pretty neat. To re-evaluate the code embedded within the text you need to press Ctrl + Enter. Not sure if I missed some instructions somewhere, I had to press random keys until I worked out how to do it..

I'm no expert, but I don't think so yet. At the minute it seems that pretty much all the money is coming from large, well financed entities - venture capital firms and large corporations such as facebook and google. These are larg

I do use bootstrap, but not directly. I download bootstrap-sass and then pull in the mixins as necessary. It gets over css bloat problems and still allows me to use semantic markup, but also means I don't have to waste time dealing wit

Interesting. So do people get head hunted on Linked In? I always ignore any requests from recruiters. Maybe I should take my profile more seriously?

With LinkedIn being as bad as people say, why do people sign up to it? Is there really no alternative? What is it that makes it compulsory to use? I have a very out of date profile, but rarely use it. For some reason I don't seem to ge

Ah, thanks for putting me straight. Yes, please expound. I am largely just a lone developer looking to use docker for my fairly small projects. I currently just use Git for deployment. Is there any value to moving to Docker?

by weavie 12y ago
True. However, Linux and Hadoop are very complex beasts that really require and benefit from a lot of expertise when deployed in the enterprise. Perhaps I don't fully understand Docker, but really there isn't that much to it. Its
