And when you are playing around with git to try this strategy and it's not allowed you get the wonderful error message "should not be doing an octopus". (IIRC, from some version of git from about 6 years ago)

It's not just about raw bandwidth though. Yes my domestic line has 20+Mbps upload but the latency and routing distance from some other domestic endpoint on the other side of the world is going to be terrible. I could go to great length

There are homeless in London of course, but access to the underground is reasonably tightly controlled with barriers and the staff will very quickly deal with anyone that hasn't paid a fare or is trying to deface the environment

No actually the majority of London inner city underground once you are inside the barriers is remarkably clean.

I sympathise but also you have to realise that setting up the studio itself is a creative endeavour! I didn't go as far as you but I have definitely enjoyed the process of setting up my musical space so that it is ready to go ... But t

dnf seems to be the default in Fedora nowadays, so that's what I used since I selected Fedora for my laptop OS (whereas I previously used kubuntu). I recall using yum some years ago on centos systems, but I'm not really up to spee

I consider rpm/dnf/yum in the same suite of packaging. Just in my experience using it and noticing how the packaging is done and applied to the system, I have more trust in rpm/dnf to do things properly compared to deb/a

It's also about the system package manager. In recent years I've been preferring Fedora's dnf over Ubuntu's apt.

I bought one (xps 15, 9510, top spec) recently and like it a lot - solid build, good Linux support and very powerful. However.... don't expect to be able to use it very long on battery power. It's pretty much like a 'portable

I don't see anything in the code which sets/handles the current uid/gid - how do you prevent every file created by a dockerized wrapped app being owned by root?

this is actually quite hard to define for me. it's something about having the creative freedom to decide on the solution to a problem, and then also the satisfaction of building it out into something which works, works well and then be

About 6 months ago I set up some little esp32 temp/pressure recorders in my home. Seeing this I've just connected the dots and realised I also recorded the same event. https://imgur.com/KAOPQxH This is in South Ea

For about the same cost you can buy an sdrplay rsp clone which can receive from 0-2GHz with 10MHz bandwidth.

How can the DVB-T signal bandwidth be larger than what the 'dtv' receiver is capable of if that device was actually originally designed to receive exactly that class of signal?

I can chime in regarding some weaknesses of the linked document. I approach this as a highly technical person, programmer, electronics tinkerer, and someone who has been actively exploring SDR for over a year now, with RPis and a few differ

To elaborate on what I mean... If the pictures are not uniform size you can't simply divide the wall dimension by the number of pictures. You'll want instead to calculate equal spacing between the pictures, or perhaps have the sof

I have an Atmos clock on the mantlepiece but as the article alludes to, although it is perpetually in motion it does not keep time very well. I love it as a mechanical wonder but I would love it more if it were useful as a timepiece. I'

It's just the numbers. Eventually all the hardware will fail. Some of that hardware will require a specific set of conditions to fail. Such a condition may be current inrush from being powercycled. Given the scale of a data centre and

Agree here. At my $WORK we run all of our backend on AWS but anything I've touched has to also run locally. We use serverless framework, and there are plugins for running the lambdas locally as well as for dynamodb, sqs, ses and eventb
