I bought a pair of esp8266 off Amazon for about £10 recently; they both look like some sort of knock-off, the PCBs are unbranded and the soldering looks somewhat less than perfect in places - however, both devices function perfectly. (WIP m

In my last job I was doing something like this, and over time it felt that I was in an important role - being senior and able to attend meetings apart from the rest of the team to make the occasional decision. Now I'm back at coding 80

You can apparently make a suitable antenna from a wire coat hanger or aluminium rod as such: https://www.rtl-sdr.com/simple-noaameteor-weather-satellite-... I tried this and whilst I could detect the signal carrier, I did n

I'm currently writing a hobby project in c++ for esp8266. I'm using about 35% DATA and 40% PROGRAM according to the compiler... seems to be ok so far (though my application does not need to allocate arbitrary memory right now, alm

I actually built two of my own 1st-order ambisonic mics and the decoder plugins about 6 years ago. I shelved the project since I couldn't (and still cannot) afford a playback system beyond stereo :( It was pretty cool to rotate the sou

I have built a little box of buttons which I can use to record the time I spend on each activity at work. Mostly just for my own amusement. I’ve open sourced the entire concept, software and physical designs.
