This texture had me smirk. :) https://opensource.apple.com/source/Chess/Chess-408/Styles/G... Wonder what their workplace policy is. It’s pretty much “don’t ask, don’t tell” around here.

The author talks about how android doesn’t use GTK. What does Android use? Some kind of Java thing?

This is definitely a top-down solution. Our CIO mandated “no meetings Fridays” before COVID-19 and it became a blessing when everyone started working from home. It reminded people that our coworkers are people. Don’t expect them to drop eve

I’m still trying to be a small market gardener/farmer. I’ve accepted that I’ll never reach my goal of financial independence. But I do believe I can supplement my diet enough to make it a zero-cost hobby. And that’s alright with me.

Cool some useful new information. >>> a restricted free version of RHEL that will be announced sometime before the end of June Hopefully the restrictions are sane and appropriate. E.g. unlimited uses/installs, with full access

I’m on the fence. I work in higher ed and happily pay the premium for red hat. We only have about 500 systems in our top 10 research/health based institution. I’m really tempted to spin up an in-house replacement for CentOS. Not strict

For radius do you have a secondary/alternative method of getting into the system in case radius is down? Or is radius a core service for your environment and a P1 issue if it’s ever down?

Just curious, what was your rationale for using pam ssh agent auth over nopasswd? It definitely looks more secure as it’d prevent our sudoers from sudoing into our ansible account but that’s about it. We have local console access disabled f

One thing this blog doesn’t get into is probably the one thing I struggled with for the longest time. Maybe it’ll come in the next part, but how are people setting up their authentication/access to their hosts? Are you using root and a

Meanwhile, I live in a small town of 4,000 people. Closest “big town” is 5 miles away with 44,000 people. I have 0 options in DoorDash. :( I hope they use this capital to do more expansion. Grubhub at least provides me with the local VFW.

Thank you. I needed to read this. I had been debating about switching careers entirely (from IT to genetics/bioinformatics) and as I’m progressing through courses I’m slowly realizing more and more that I’m going to still be expected t

My wife hung up her hat after busting her butt for 5 years. Pay was garbage. Expectations too high — mostly from the students and parents. I often jokingly ask if she’d go back if they offered twice her pay. She doesn’t even hesitate - no.

How do you see the forest when you’ve been born into it? You chop down all the trees around you. Using master/slave casually in a discussion is a tree. I’m sorry I’m just trying to see the forest.
