I don't necessarily agree with this. Running on servers was not a priority for Linux but it took off in servers. I think part of this is because a lot of people tried Linux at home, liked it a lot, and then brought it to work. Kind of

Even on Windows the pagefile space is taken but it doesn't have to write to disk right? They can zero on first read.

At least on Windows, the biggest difference is that Restic doesn't support VSS snapshot so you can't use it to backup all files in a consistent manner. This makes it a lot less useful than other solutions on Windows.

No, it is not very good. I remember this one particular example that I was surprised to see years ago, and I actually encountered the bug at work. There is a constant named MAX_UID_T_LEN to denote the maximum number of characters that a UID

LTS has its drawbacks. For years I had to work with Ubuntu 16.04 I had to compile my own vim and tmux to have features I want. I have no problem doing that as a developer but it's not a very good replacement experience for end users.

Some of Google/Amazon/Facebook/Apple have offices in Canada and they will probably pay you 2+x (not as much as in US but still good). I am not sure if they actually require a degree for experienced people like you though.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, the paper is comparing the original audio with MP3s compressed at 112kbps and under, where the compression artifacts are very easy to notice.

I read the book, it is well written, accessible and pretty accurate. I think it's worth a skim even just to learn more about something you vaguely know but you can't explain in your own words.

This does not reflect my experience. Besides, taking Ambien would show different brain waves than actual sleeps so it would make it less useful as well.
