Several things surprised me, both in the blog post and the other comments. (Though hpcjoe's and enriquot's comments took care of the "What? Fortran is dead?" reaction.) - (Comment) "array operations, ... are slower

Good link, thanks. But I don't find the points/comments reliable indicators of things I want to read. For example, I only read one out of the Top 10 today.

Wow. The written equivalent of a YouTube conspiracy video. The factual claims aren't facts, e.g., the NYT had nothing to do with the demise of local papers, if you could point to a single cause it would be the loss of classified advert

Really? We did almost all our Christmas shopping on Amazon and had no complaints. Other businesses delivered late. Last night I ordered soft drinks from Amazon Fresh and they were delivered in less than 12 hours. I do agree with sloaken. Re

It won't be a problem for local republican politicians as long as people keep moving to already democratic locations like Austin, whose impact has already been gerrymandered away. https://www.texastribune.org/2020/

The trick employed by the "good taste" solution is to ignore the type of the object containing the pointer, which is different for the head, and focus only on the type of the object pointed to, which is the same for all the pointe

It's not useful to speculate about things that are unfalsifiable. That's why Penrose wants these things to be observable traces from before the big bang.

Typical brain-teaser interview question that will have absolutely no correlation to on-the-job performance but makes the interviewer feel really smart. I thought Google had gotten away from these.
