I think it's more like getting upset with your cable provider when their service goes down leaving you stranded with no internet. Arguably, it's your fault that you don't have any internet, you could have had redundant internet access betwe

One of my co-workers uses "cash" for $. I think that's the worst possible choice for pronunciation since it sounds just like "cache", which is another thing you need to talk about fairly frequently.

I don't think 0MQ existed when we made the decision to go with Gearman, but a 30-second glance tells me it would probably be well suited to build a job server on top of, but isn't exactly an out-of-the-box job server like gearman is. For on

Unfortunately, I don't remember why we originally went with Gearman. We did evaluate RabbitMQ (or was that ActiveMQ?) and at the time there was something that we wanted to do that Gearman was better suited towards. That was a long time ago,

We use @mentions internally at my company. It helps us to filter/prioritize emails that we are @mentioned in. Definitely a great handy shortcut for getting someone's attention, I hope more services adopt it.

Maybe it's just because I run a lot of the same commands and don't do a lot of development from the terminal, but I avoid cding at all usually and just type the full path. It svaes time over multiple sessions thanks to ctrl+r, and the comma

If I was going to quit my job, Google would be on the top of my list of places to apply to. But since I have a job I really love and get to work with a great team where I am now, I wouldn't consider leaving.

This has been my experience as well. Actually, it's worse. I actually managed to earn a bunch of points on SO by finding some questions that needed better questions...but it took a long time to get there for all the usual reasons of not wan

I wish github (and git in general) had a better way to view the history of your history, as it were. It's great that get let's you change histoy, but it can be quite problematic if someone messes up that history, especially if it's not caug

I understand how the API works, but there is no publicly documented call for liking something for a user, whichh is what yelp and youtube are able to do.

There are other calls they make completely behind the scenes that, as far as I can tell, are completely secret. I don't use Yelp very often so I may be getting the terminology mixed up, but if you link your Yelp and FB accounts, and you "

There are most certainly hidden APIs, there are things that YouTube and Yelp are allowed to do, that you just can't do through any of the publicly documented APIs.

"Use 64-bit version" is not much of a gotcha. It warns you when you start up the 32-bit version (or at least it did). Besides that, reinstalling Mongo is an easy and fast operation.
