This does sound sort of interesting, but after thinking about it I don't get why this is cool. Can someone explain a practical use case? How is it different, in practice, from say running a Node.JS on localhost and using localtunnel?

I agree it's a tough sell, but it does looks like he will reach the funding target on Kickstarter.

Very interesting idea. Might have some merit with a lot of tweaking. But appeal to exclusivity and FOMO are often value drivers.

>There is little to gain (and much to lose) by making it sound like bob was unattractive to the company, even if he was. You appear to be stating this as a fact. Also when the headline talked about "getting fired", most would probably

That could seem like the company is unattractive to Bob (and hence could start wondering more), versus Bob is unattractive to the company.

Setting up our infrastructure to do that is technically straightforward: we need to add more servers to handle a lot of additional traffic on the front end, before people get to content. There are both implementation and ongoing operationa

Do people really care about this? That might be the core problem. That said, I really respect Dalton for going all out on it.

The API probably has a key that can be blocked. Not that I'm advocating this, but a potential advantage of scraping, is it can be combined with tor or proxies, etc to get around limits.

Wow, I wonder if people realize just how scary this is. Security Questions are a terrible idea.

Never understood Apple's insistence on asking for the password all the time. For such a customer focused company, it just seems so bad.

This is better than both I agree. Of course the real issue is one should not be changing corporate policy because of a few bad apples. Better, if possible, to address the undesirable behaviour first before taking more drastic measures.

Neat app. Don't think it will have mainstream success, in current form. People are lazy.

Suspect you may be confusing the state of 'being safe', with the measurement of 'being safe'. Empirical methods are not the only way to quantify something. Either world view relies on "Just trust me, I know" or "The numbers never lie" W

Interesting, it's not blurred for me either, although the other day I remember it was. I tried this in Firefox and Chrome in both normal and Private/Incognito modes.

>They head-faked a lot of developers, but I don't think that was deliberate. Yeah I'd agree with that. Can't say either if this will have major repucussions in the future. Users probably don't care about these issues and dev's will suck

One of the more glaring security issues with Dropbox, is the way they are handling 3rd party integration. Giving full access to some random new startup or app is NOT cool. Sure I don't have to, but people also like to try new stuff, and t

Indeed. Sentiment analysis is a problem. I think there are some companies working. It is a real phenomenon, but just hard to access empirical quantified data at the moment. As a quick measure I use things like Google Insights, compete.com,

Yeah. The point was more about mindshare and not just tech. "X has an image problem." where X can be any tech from an uncool company, even if it is fundamentally decent.
