Your spidey sense is failing you, you're making assumptions you've got no ground for. I've voted for left of centre parties all my life. I was born in the NHS and I'll probably die there too.

Libertarians can just flip it round and say how do socialists solve the free rider problem? Neither system resolves both problems. Extremist dogma is not a great way to run a society, but it does good numbers on social media, so here we are

It's a bad example because the last 5+ years in UK/US have seen an epidemic of child vaping and nicotine addiction when it was illegal for them to have it, while the Tobacco companies fight tooth and nail against regulation on fru

Heroin is illegal for people of all ages, and those laws don't work either.

Nicotine is probably the worst example possible to argue that laws prevent children from using and becoming addicted to something.

I was saddened by just the headline and photo of the one last week. The BBC and UK news readers in general absolutely love stories about child abusers, so they get prominent placing (and even a live blog on the sentencing last week)

Rendezvous and cliche yes. Nuance, etiquette, RSVP no. It's instinctive so I can't explain but maybe because rendezvous and cliche require using French pronounciation. On this I think you could find more differing opinions than th

Of course, the line is very blurry. I've used accoutrement(s) in English many times, but I've never considered myself to be speaking English when I use it. It's like joie de vivre or c'est la vie.

Claude kind of has this already in their Advisor feature. I don't think I've seen it elsewhere. Open harnesses could add this feature and call out to big boy models when required. It's a really great idea.

The gpt-oss models are good but there's no evidence that OpenAI have ongoing development on open models. I'm 99% sure it was one-and-done, box ticked, and now they can be mentioned in comments like this.
