I see the plot of a sci-fi story where scientists bring home some of the Venusian microbes for study and accidentally wipe out all life on Earth after it escapes the lab, multiplies rapidly, and Earth has no defense. Or the microbes could b

Aren't there a couple of episodes like that? Are you referring to the episode with Miley Cyrus? The others I'm thinking of are the plush bear that contains a AI copy of a human mind, and the killer robot dogs.

This is true. I've been using LLMs for code generation, and it does stuff I don't understand well. Also it makes mistakes, bugs. What I do find helpful is use it to ask for suggestions for how to achieve some result, then learn fr

Wouldn't it be fun if someone out there already knows a simple way to determine if a number is prime without factoring, but to them it is so obvious that they didn't even consider others may be interested.

Does this title make anyone else's Asimov senses tingle? In the book "Foundation and Earth", the protagonists travel from planet Aurora to planet Earth.

I've played it with my kids. It's a simple and fun tycoon type game. You buy seeds, plant them, harvest crops, sell crops, repeat. Upgrade your crops, etc. There are gacha eggs that grow into pets that you buy with free game econo

I find AI jail-breaking to be a fun mental exercise. I find that if you provide a reasonable argument as to why you want the AI to do generate a response that violates its principals, it will often do so. For example, I was able to get the

Does password requirements with short max length count as getting it wrong? Because I see that all the time. Also a password box that will accept more characters than the max password length.

I wonder how it will work. The article sounds like it just overrides the print screen button. But what about screen recording apps like OBS? Seems like Teams would need to inject some code deep into the os to block that.
