I guess there is a significant risk of the result being found in the States' favor so that they don't directly challenge the law. IANAL, but it seems like the Supreme Court would very likely rule in their favor though. Quill v N Dakota is a

Since this was downvoted, i'll just clarify that I was not being facetious, so hopefully the comment is not being taken as flamebait. Really, the cheerleading is a legitimate reason to do YC, apparently.

I wouldn't at all fault you guys for taking advantage of the coverage. I'm just wondering why the HN crowd decided to give free advertising to a small incremental update. This does give a compelling reason to join YC, though: plenty of chee

I hate to be that guy, but hasn't Kayak had this feature for a really long time? Hipmunk is great and all, but I fail to see how a travel site adding an icon is relevant to the HN frontpage.

I wonder if Android has a chance, long term, in the tablet market. I personally love Honeycomb and my Galaxy 10.1, but I have yet to meet a non-techie who knows what one is, let alone wants one (nook doesn't count). People know what an iPad

There was a Google I/O session which detailed a lot of the same tips in this blog post. However, thankfully, this post was a lot more succinct. If anyone's interested though, here's a link to the session: http://www.google.com/events/io/2

I think the criticism here on GoF is misdirected. As far as I'm concerned, GoF is (or at least should be treated as) a taxonomy, not a cookbook. The fact that people use it as a cookbook is not necessarily the fault of the authors.

Why does everyone's ecommerce site need a "daily deals" email sign up form now? What works for a coupon site is not likely to work for a T-Shirt site. Show me some products and there's a slim chance I might buy something. Show me nothing bu

I think the headline does lead you to that conclusion, even if not explicitly stated or even the author's intention: "Two 11-year-old entrepreneurs learned the hard way what it’s like to be a minority in tech during Startup Weekend" Being o

There are .coms that sell for millions, so $185k for a .whatever domain seems reasonable (well, not really, but it's reasonable to expect people will pay for it). I wonder who can legitimately claim .food, or .cars, though. Great idea by IC

Sometimes people tend to throw around logical fallacies a bit too much. In the legal system it's perfectly acceptable to bring up such an ad hominem argument: motive. No one should be convicted on motive alone, however it does frame the int

Makes sense. CSCO found out as much recently. Chambers set up boards and councils to have collaborative leadership of technology groups rather than top down management. Reports are it led to less accountability and, I imagine, a "loafing" e

I agree with most of this article, however this line is a bit questionable to me: > Every time my girlfriend pulls out her Android phone, I ask her about apps I love for the iPhone and she has none of them. I'd like to know what apps on

I made an acount just to vote on this. The arguing you referred to is exactly the reason why i prefer hn to reddit. I would hate to see rhe same insular 'hivemind' effect here.
