Maybe this is true at Google, but you need a fair amount of dedication to stick around at Goldman or McKinsey. Nobody becomes a career middle manager there. Well, maybe some back-office jobs at GS.

Right, because that's clearly what's driving sales of Outliers. Telling a small group of people what they might not want to hear as opposed to telling a large group of people what they want to hear.

The opinion of some FB engineers is that if they could start all over, they probably wouldn't use php. The codebase is very large and somewhat of a hassle to maintain, but at this point it does not make sense to move off php. Facebook does

These are pretty good. I really liked #6, the tip for template_tags. I hadn't thought of that before and will definitely do that. I will also look into extensions of the template system as suggested at the bottom. Those were really helpful,
