In many time periods in this countries short history, you would be dead wrong. But, I was more pointing to the bravery of these FBI agents, investigating this horrendous crime

What does that even mean? Plenty of people find farm animals adorable, why else would we have petting zoo's? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that humans eat meat, and we've gotten quite used to processing certain specie

Could also be an aberration caused by the generally poor hiring practices used by these software companies. I have no idea what the talent pool actually looks like for these two industries. I have noticed there appears to be a huge divide b

You might want to mention your industry though, IIRC yours is quite esoteric (backbone/wholesale/IXP's). Generic software engineering roles have an incredibly high signal-to-noise ratio. Recruiting was pretty much required at

Which brings up a fun question; At which point does pressing buttons on a screen to play a video game while driving cause just as much distraction as pressing buttons on a screen to manage your windshield wipers / drive mode / HVA

So that just means employers will cut hours to no more than 32 a week to avoid paying OT. Aren't progressives already complaining about people working multiple jobs to get by?

This might be difficult for the average HN’er to understand, but phone bans are incredibly common at blue collar jobs. Being seen with one when you should be moving boxes, flipping burgers, working the register, etc is usually grounds for r

I think the main problem is that stroads do not handle surge traffic well at all. They tend to end up sending blocks of cars 100-400 yards forward at a time, in intervals of 30 seconds to 2 minutes. With extra deadlocks happening when left

Same experience. Very very disappointed by the software, and now they are making it even worse by locking more and more of it behind a paywall. The device was nearly 650$ for christ sake.
