After programming professionally for several years now I'm always shocked to hear that people program for fun in their free time. Once I get home from work, the last thing I want to think about is writing software.

I'm shocked how well Twitter worked here, normally I dread reading long tweet threads but this worked really well. Short videos and a good mix of media helps a ton.

Meow Wolf reminds me a lot of City Museum in St. Louis, they are a living work of art. I stand by City Museum being the coolest thing in STL and would highly recommend it to anyone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Mu

The biggest shock to me is how fast culture changed, I go to the bar on the weekends a lot and we had a DD rotation for years. Once we figured out that we could pay $12 for an uber anywhere in town we started having so much more fun.

I'm the same way, I currently sit near a huge window and I find that it is way too bright. I've had to put up shades to block the sun. My last job I sat in a dim room with only a small amount of ambient light and I loved it.

Hard agree, I just feel faster using DDG. Every once in a while I need to throw a !g to find what I want and that isn't a huge deal breaker for me. For 90% of searches it works great.

DDG's bang search is by far my favorite feature, I've been using DDG for about 4 years and being about to just !w or !m for common stuff is a huge win.

Is this an American only issue? I was under the impression that marijuana is very popular everywhere.

by wafflesraccoon 8y ago
Small point, marijuana isn't a hallucinogen.

Man, reading the comments makes me think I'm the only one who loves open offices. After switching from a cube I never want to go back. I found being locked in a cube all day was depressing and created a culture of working zombies. With

Maybe voicing an option on jury nullification in the wrong location at the wrong time?[0] That is just a shot in the dark though. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification

Side point, what does `qv` mean at the start of your comment? I can't find anything with 30 seconds of Googling.

Side point, I was under the impression that Chrome was going to stop videos from auto playing but videos on Reuters still play by default. Any ideas why? Thanks.

Genuine question for people that have taken mushrooms, would you recommend it?

by wafflesraccoon 8y ago
That feels like a very small number to me.

+1 For Dell. Their hardware isn't the best but I've never had a problem running GNU/Linux on my XPS.

> Visiting a new meetup group for the first time? I think having some dread is more a common/normal thing, I'm very much an extrovert and this is a problem for me too.

As someone that has never played Myst, how does it hold up in a modern setting? It always looked like a game that needed a VR remake.

Does anyone have the videos for this? I remember watching them years ago but they seem to be removed now.

Minor point, modern art ended around the 1960s, this describes becoming a contemporary artist.

Would you do it again? I hear mostly good things about living in China once you get past the culture shock.
