I wrote a demuxer for CAN Bus data in C++. Then, I built a Python module using Boost.python so that our Python programmers could simply 'import demux' and write scripts to see and manipulate individual variables, load data into th

I expect two factor authentication over cellular networks (SMS and voice callbacks) to be commonly exploited in a year. Orgs really need to force OATH (HOTP, TOTP) and FIDO (U2F, UAF) and begin transitioning away from cellular two factor.

Of the seven classes I have had, only one (software engineering with Professor Orso) has been a team class. All the other classes were individual work only. I got an A in the team-based class. Don't get discouraged and do talk to the p

I wrote a keystroke logger for Windows, but I've never used it outside of demonstrations. Doing so may be illegal, so talk to a lawyer in your state to get the facts. Here's the source code: https://github.com/w8rb

State and federal governments do not get as much tax revenue either because these people are not earning at their full potential. So basically, it hurts everyone involved as well as society as a whole.

I'm not sure this is always true. GNU Coreutils offer much more functionality and are preferred by many for this reason.

I strive to respect other people's time/concentration and I appreciate the same. So I typically start chats with, "Hey, do you have a minute?" to give them the chance to say no.

You have to get people to buy into using 2fa. SMS and cell phones were good for that. They are not secure and are being abused now (SS7 attacks) and one day won't be used for 2fa at all, but the platform was a good start and certainly

This is awesome. Seems you could make it a business and sell some random bits. Maybe compete with hotbits and random.org.

I get 5 to 7 calls a day. I don't answer the phone unless I know the number. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

It depends on the hash type. Cryptographic hashes (MD4, SHA1, SHA256, etc.) are made to be efficient and fast to compute while password hashes (bcrypt, scrypt, etc.) are much more difficult to compute. The difference is staggering. john

Good point. I prefer ISO standards and the built-in library, but your point is valid. Implementations do exist in C++ today.

If it weren't for Goroutines I would not find go very useful. I expect C++ will implement coroutines and/or fibers someday that will be very well designed and more carefully/broadly thought out.

If you are really worried about the security of old C code, then the safest, most portable thing to do is re-write in modern C++. This is sane and doable in a short period of time. Rust is not.

This is really cool to see visually. I buy 15 to 20 year old Toyotas and keep them for 10 years or until they really break-down. If you can find one that's been serviced regularly (engine oil, coolant and lub), it'll last a good b
