Just do something really technically awesome in Rust that becomes hugely popular and the language will speak for itself. I've not seen that yet. But I do hear a lot of fanaticism. That's normally a bad sign. Docker is written in G

Good that you can specify -std=c++11 to prevent the bloat. The more recent 14 and 17 standards don't seem as groundbreaking and practical (both at the same time) as 11 was and, as you note, do seem to bring bloat.

Same experience here with the trivia questions. They called me out of the blue about 10 years ago and said they wanted to interview me. So I said OK. Later, during the interview, the questions were largely trivia. How do you remove a file u

I'm concerned that the same thing will happen to libraries and books someday. Books are a great technology. I hope we don't throw them out too.

On the IoT device itself, sqlite would be a good choice due to its simplicity and the fact that it's small enough to fit and run. As an aside, I find that I can use sqlite for 90% of the DB needs I have. For the other 10% (multiple wri

You can do that. IMO, the best approach is to just buy a 15K to 25K life insurance policy. If you are young and healthy, it'll only cost 10 dollars a month (maybe less) and the nice thing about those is that you/your beneficiary g

It's common for funeral homes, in the South East, to do no cost or very low cost infant ceremonies and burials. Maybe common in other areas too, but I can't say for certain. I saw this first hand in Georgia, North Carolina and Vir

I've recently started writing all my scripts in Python 3 as I need to future-proof some things. And it just works now. No problems. So if you tried Py3 years ago and had issues, try again today.

No one has made students do anything. These are choices. Some choices cost more than others. You should pick one that you can afford and that has a future income potential. And, there are some top quality programs that are very affordable.

I think the OP's point is, that's what a jar file was supposed to do. You can ship a bundled-up jar file to anyone and they can run it so long as they have the right JVM installed. Now, you replace 'the right JVM install'

It's just more C++ ish to write something::listen rather than something_listen. Namespaces are easy too. Why not?

It's a simple fix. Just need an egress ACL. UDP packets with source IPs not from here should never make it past the edge router. Lies, damn lies and UDP packets.

I agree. Just need to set some bits and test them. This is too big really for a tree or a hash table.

I think that's mainly because C++ is an ISO standard used all over the world by big business and governments. So its standards are released less often and with a great deal of testing and care. I bet you will be able to specify -std=c+

There may not be humans or cattle around, but all sorts of wild animals defecate, urinate, procreate, etc. in water. Treat the water (boil, filter, pills, etc.) before using it and you'll be OK.
