If you think of CS as a distinct area (outside of math) then it is used there a lot. Especially in cryptography (RSA, etc.).

It's not revolutionary to say that asking for user passwords is stupid and dangerous. Nothing good will come from giving your email account password to Facebook (or any company). It's also a basic human rights violation. We all ha

I find this to be largely generational. Younger people tend to be more visual. As long as the source of the videos is accurate and complete, I would not worry about it.

When n is guaranteed to be very small it does not matter. Even an exponential solution would be fine in these cases. The 'algo nerd' on your team ought to know this.

If you have only ever worked a 9 - 5 work week this may come as a surprise, but in the real world in America, lots of highly paid people routinely work weekends and nights and 12 or even 24 hour shifts. Doctors, Police Officers, Morticians,

Store your TOTP secrets PGP or NaCL encrypted. I have done this for years. You'd have to get my private key (off of a smartcard) and get my private key password (out of my head) to decrypt my TOTP secrets before you could use my TOTP g

If you like oathtool, you may like oathgen and goathgen too (I wrote them years ago). They take stdin so you can store your secrets PGP or NaCL encrypted, etc. and pipe them: https://github.com/w8rbt/oathgen https:&#x

Replying to myself... I think I could actually use nacl/box to accomplish this. I'd just have to take care and break the large files into smaller chunks and find a way for users to easily generate and manage keys. OpenPGP sort of

Probably not. Security is full of the "We're Compliant" types (don't we have insurance for that?) and very few real technologists who know how to hack/break/abuse systems. Target was PCI compliant when their CC

Keep G Suite, but buy your own domain (whatever.com) so you are in total control. If they ban you, just change DNS records to point to zoho or some other provider.

I don't miss generics in Go and I have used generics in C++ a good deal. I think the whole generics argument against Go is largely parroted by people who may not even know what generics even are. C doesn't have Generics either. It

Lots of questions about this. Some say it is old, stale data. I don't believe it is current. They charge 25 cents per 1,000 queries in AWS. Why give that away for free? See thread here: https://gist.github.com/chilts&#x

I think AWS Lambda supports Go 1.x. Does GCF plan to stick to Go 1.11.x or broaden support to other Go versions in the future? What will happen to 1.11.x support when 1.12 comes out?

That happened to a Go repo of mine once as well (except it was a python script causing the misidentification). I fixed it by adding a gitattributes file to the repo. Here it is: https://github.com/w8rbt/netscan/blo
