Jars are just awesome for cross-platform work or for when you need easy deployment. I oscillate between Java and Go now for similar tasks. They are both great for cross-platform and easy deploys/frequent updates. Go is better at system

Agreed. C++ is far safer than C and just as safe as rust. If the rust crowd was really serious about convincing C and C++ devs to move to rust, then they ought to have made the syntax identical (or at least much closer) to C than it current

Many corporations do this on their networks so that they can inspect traffic for security purposes and outbound loss prevention. It's not uncommon today and seems to be gaining in popularity. Edit: I don't mean to imply that it

Java has really come a long way. I'm not sure why it's not hyped more. I guess it's like C++ (another widely used old man's language that runs the world).

That's the issue with LSMs in general. They all work, but historically have been difficult to configure and impossible to maintain. That's changing. There used to be only one (SELinux), however, there's competition now from o

I would start by getting the code to compile with g++, then begin migrating the dangerous C constructs to safe C++ constructs. IMO, that would be a safe, reasonable thing to do.

I agree. C is fast because it can be unsafe. Skip all the safety checks and run like hell (if you need or want to). We don't care what size that array is, we just want to go really fast. Safety checks come with a performance cost. Rust
