I use pfSense as a vitual machine to firewall/NAT off my vitual environment. It works great. I am running it on KVM/QEMU and handing off the PCI device to the pfSense VM. Great for managing my environment through VPN. I've al

Imagine you had all the torches lifted up in the air throughout the entire duration of the show. As long as the 'human' stays in place, and as long as you know the uuid of each device; you can make any shape you desire.

To the point (reality) of Arch's amazing docs; I fully agree with the author. I've never experienced a more comprehensive and up-to-date doc regarding a distro. For this reason, I exclusively use Arch for both desktop and laptop.

I've been working remote now for 5 years. All from home (sometimes from a car or a cabin). It takes discipline and limits. In my case - limiting my urges to finish out a project or get a bit further at 2am. It can be a blessing and a c

I have the 2016 model running Arch Linux. The machine is a great piece of engineering. Light as a feather, and feels durable. The carbon fiber body feels great in hand. Performance wise, I have the i7 model 16G RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD. The o

Hey! I actually live in Cumberland! It is as bad as written. Extreme loss of white-collar opportunities. We do have a navy-sea command base where IBM has a data-center. They've had the same jobs advertised for over 2 years now. Very ha

I'd recommend Ubiquiti's UniFi. I installed three total units (one as base, two satellites). The setup spans 15,000sqft across two stories and split building (connected by breezeway). We get full speed on every corner and crevice.

I wonder what they will do with the data (the fingerprint). Will some three-letter-agency have access? (Of course they can demand access).

This exploit seems to have come from the equation group "leak" which supposedly came from the NSA.

How best, or how would one expect the NSA to behave? Where is the balance between offense and defense? On one hand, I can see this exploit needing disclosed to the general public. On the other, I can see this being useful for offensive purp

This is similar to what I do. I run Debian as the host machine and then have guests running on QEMU/KVM. I don't use IOMMU, I simply create a bridge on each physical ethernet. This allows me to add other "router/vm"

For my home setup, I run pfSense on top of QEMU/KVM on an i7 Haswell 1U box with 2 eth ports. I have a bridge for each eth instead of IOMMU. I can max out the 1gbps ethernets without a huge hit. I then have a Mikrotik Gigabit 24 port s

You can run OpenWRT as a virtual router (MetaRouter) on top of Mikrotik. That would allow you to get around the TCP limit. Does anyone have any experience with running OpenWRT as a MetaRouter?

From a Sysadmin perspective: data management. It is easier to mange data in one place than in multiple locations. Why has Vitualization become so popular? We have kind of gone full circle at this point.

What implications could this have for oil? Isn't oil bought and sold using US Dollars? I've always heard the World "Does Business" in US Dollars. Is this the beginning of the end for the Dollar as an international norm?
