I don’t quite understand how this works. They say it’s a new protocol but it’s still using a browser which would imply it’s layered on top of UDP or TCP. Building a new protocol today is kinda like inventing a new engine that doesn’t requir

Many of the issues that seem like doom and gloom will be solved, through human ingenuity and perseverance. Getting all bent out of shape and depressed is not the answer as the truth is that all those things aren’t nearly as bad as many are

I’ve used copilot to turn an rfc into code. It wasn’t perfect the code did need to be changed a bit but it was surprisingly close. And I ended only rewriting 4-5 lines that were totally wrong and 3-4 just for clarity. Out of like 40 lines o

This needs a (2020) tag. It’s super old but still an interesting anecdote about “blitz scaling” gone wrong. I found a few of these myself, was able to order a free sandwich that normally cost $16 as long as I ordered something else.

This blog post by Joel is a wealth of knowledge that does a great job of presciently explaining the last 15 years of Microsoft. He even offers a great reason for why IE stagnated for years: MS was afraid of the web and felt sabotage was the

This form of gatekeeping doesn’t make a lot of sense. DNS isn’t simple to understand, many very knowledgeable people still make mistakes with it. Expecting everyone to have a perfect understanding of DNS before they buy a domain is as unrea

Fascinating story. Especially interesting how he still felt compelled to make Microsoft’s apps work without any input from them. If it was important for them you’d think they'd agree to let him have access to the actual source code to
