I was recently blown away when I was using WSL and accidentally launched the GUI component of an ubuntu program. A native ubuntu UI popped open, fully maneuverable over my Windows desktop environment. That was really cool.

That’s the beauty though, isn’t it. Most bugs are trivial. I appreciate typescript getting the trivial bugs right more often than I’d trust myself to do so.

It’s more than just 25, they often go to 29, to indicate 5am. They do this to make it clear that it is an overnight service starting in one calendar day and terminating in another. It’s not just a simple substitute for “1 am”.

To summarize the comments in this thread so far... * Signing your commits is a waste of time * Signing your commits with SSH keys is bad because it conflates an ephemeral key with a permanent identity * Signing your commits with anything bu

As a counterpoint, I see it so frequently you could conceivably describe it as being “everywhere” but it’s mostly within corporations, so you wouldn’t exactly be seeing it on the streets of Shibuya (although you do in fact see it there some

YouTube Shorts have the same problem where no matter what, all videos regardless of topic arc towards Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan. It's deeply frustrating.

This was assigned reading in one of my university CS courses, and although it was great fun then, as we were mostly all novice programmers learning Java of all things, the madness of the story didn't hit me until a few years later when

Yes, of course socializing is fun. But when it comes to housing accommodations for travel, I'm surprised so many people view that as being a perk of Airbnb over the hotels. Or maybe everybody else just accepts it not as a bonus, but as

I've never been comfortable with the concept of Airbnb, so I'm curious if anyone could chime in with why they think it grew to be as big as it did. To me the idea that I have to do a kind of song-and-dance negotiation with a host

My current project was switched from C# to Go almost 2 years ago. It was a management decision, and while the team all generally has found something or another to like about Go, we all miss C#.

The Rise model in particular is amazingly good quality. I pranked a friend with some text from her a few minutes ago and he chastised me for wasting my money on hiring voice actors just to troll him. So, excellent job.

Go will serialize keys to maps in random order, meaning that unless you take special and extraordinary precautions while serializing your json structs, you will get keys that will not be where you expect them to be.

It's compilation all the way down. I write C#, and it is compiled to CIL, which gets further compiled via the JIT into asm. CIL, or JVM bytecode, or LLVM IR is just one more step in the compilation chain.

The CTO dictated our move to Go two years ago on what felt like a combination of whimsy and anti-Microsoft sentiment. I'll admit that there are parts of the language that are nice, such as the relatively snappy compile times and single
