I learned bash and then needed to use powershell once later down the road; that was.. that was bad. Not bad for me, was actually great for me because now I just main Linux; but powershell, while I get it... don't do that to people.

With burnout it's simple, rest. Get away, go spiritually connect with something new, like laying on a beach or doing something completely new. Burnout is real and will make you _hate_ anything. I watch for burnout in my teams, and beco

No way. People deserve expression and to have a place that's THEIRS where they can foster a community. Much is learned. Playing battle bots is fun at the sysadmin level (for me), maybe not so much for others, but to have a place where

Worth checking out the different server hosts. You can get a cheap OVH server with 64GB of RAM, 4-6cores with 2TB of disk space from OVH for $30, better servers for $70 with 1gbps - 2gbps bandwidth. Setting up a DB isn't hard, using an

It is desirable. a bit off topic: I forgot the login to my Mac M1 and now I can't 'install Linux' on it, due to 'activation lock' - no apple support since I can't remember the phone number or e-mail and got it

There are no failures for Linux Desktop; this can never be the meaning. I say this with humor in mind. Requiring me to have a cloud account to format my machine (mac) and requiring me to have a cloud account on only pre-authorized hardware

100%. I enjoy AI Agentic programming because I make new things to tinker with and/or try out ideas. I'm not trying to code to push to some production, and I'm not worried about what others think of my code. I want to be able

I put a lot of thought in to my prompts. I can code, definitely not as good as the AI or people here on HN; it's something I always enjoyed doing to tinker with things. The AI agent in Cursor with Gemini (I'm semi-new to all of th

Why not Linux? Also: https://techcrunch.com/2025/04/24/perplexity-ceo-says-its-br... As somebody who values privacy, that doesn't seem ideal for me. Especially if it just wants to sell this data and serv

Agreed. But python is tried and true and battle tested. I like hobby coding and tried wasm python for the first time the other day, needed JS to load the wasm on the front end. Front end python socket io to python backend? Forget about it.

That's actually really cool, and gives me a peak in to microcontrollers. Wasn't aware of YUBA, but using such little RAM, loading an ipstack on it is impressive enough. Never would have thought about turning a vape in to an IoT de
