Your comment really isn't adding any value to understanding the state of Python packaging. From my personal experience, there's so many things that can crop up, not limited to: - Conflicts with system packages from e.g. apt - Conf

Perhaps not all of the advice applies, but when it comes to images and fonts, I don't think any amount of keeping things handmade is going to outstrip the advice regarding static caching and loading fewer fonts.

I think a lot of the suggestions the parent comment suggests are orders of magnitude better savings than writing things by hand... Perhaps writing things by hand has a questionable nostalgic allure of "keeping one honest" but beyo

I agree that I've boiled it down a bit too much and so I should also add that beyond patriotism the CCP have actually had a positive impact on the material conditions of the rural people of China, as well as engaging in extensive moder

I'm not personally a supporter of the CCP, but I do interact with people who are. For those who are immigrants from mainland China who support the CCP, there's an element of patriotism with regards to seeing their country becoming

I don't think Go has ever specified that a specific calling convention must be used, and it doesn't expose it very easily to the end user. I would argue that if you are writing code that depends on assuming the calling convention

You seem to have a very utilitarian view of food that most people do not have: the average person does not quantify food purely in terms of their nutritional value, and enjoying the taste of it is a pretty big factor for if they want to eat

Just plain rice and plain beans every day? I think there is a lot of work that goes into preparation you're willfully ignoring for in making it less boring and soulcrushing.

Go is a little more elaborate than that: if a value is initialized as a pointer-to-struct (e.g. foo := &Foo{...}) and it doesn't escape the function, Go will allocate it as if were a value type.

Inarguably though Apple not supporting Vulkan is a huge stumbling block for games on macOS -- even if the common engines support it, a lot of game studios who aren't using something off the shelf aren't likely to support a Mac-onl

It's perfectly reasonable for people to want greater privacy in off-the-shelf products they buy. People shouldn't have to resort to buying SIM cards with cash (???) to preserve their privacy.

I don't think aggression has much to do with the factual content of the replies. Just because people reply to you angrily about an issue that is near and dear to them doesn't mean you can talk about them dismissively like this.

I don't think arguing about the semantics of "barbarism" really takes away from the original overarching argument: nature is primitive and cruel but humans in general at least try to alleviate that kind of cruelty seen in non

I feel like the incentive here is to make sure your devices are secured rather than asking them to stop scanning :-) Better someone who is openly providing you this information such that you can use it than a malicious attacker!

How is this a bad faith argument? Proton's claim was they didn't log IPs and then it turns out that in certain cases they do – regardless of the reason, they reneged on their claim.

What is the significance of having a high GDP per capita? GDP is a metric of economic output, it is unwise to extrapolate it so far -- after all, Syria has a GDP 2x that of Haiti.
