.NET core doesn't exist anymore. It's now just .NET. It is the successor to the old windows only .NET. It is very much not windows only.

The binary VScode you install is different than an open source build. Microsoft doesn't want OS builds using the same package registery and I assume various tooling iirc

Probably because its a shim to use a proprietary (only distributed by MS) binary blob version of DirectX compiled for Linux. Outside of ML utilizing DirectX in WSL on Windows, the only group that this helps is MS. FTR, I'm not arguing

Uhh sublime is written in C++ with it's own custom UI the toolkit iirc. It only uses python for scripting.
