You probably want to look for towns pushing their "historic" qualities, at least in the Northeast, and live in/near the historic area. I live in Carlisle, PA, which has the downtown (about 3x3 blocks) designated as a historic

I like having half a dozen frequently used sites on my start page, as a better bookmark solution. Don't want a bar taking up screen real estate, but if I can click into my issue tracker, doc repo, email, etc from a new tab, that works

I always hear/read about the speed trap warning. In motorcycle circles, IIRC tapping the top of your helmet is that same warning. I haven't ever actually seen either of those in practice, though. Motorcyclists do usually wave at e

That seems like just a difference in campaign styles. Paranoia is designed for that sort of play, isn't it? My RPG group that has played for 15+ years has only played D&D a couple times, and only in the past 5 years, but the style

> Do actors even act anymore? Do companies just pay actors for their likeness and do the rest? I assume that would eventually get to generating a totally new person, rather than modeling after a specific actor who costs money.

https://day1of.com I got tired of having to think with date math, specifically determining the difference between "how many days between these dates" and "this is day x of span y", so I just made a tool speci

IDK about DS, but a classic PSP (1000/2000/3000) with a modded firmware handles the others just fine, along with PSP/PS1 games. Think I might have played n64 on mine? Has a replaceable battery, too.

This becomes even more likely with internet communities, etc. I met my wife online, and our hometowns are 1200 miles apart. It's impossible to live less than an 8 hour drive from both our families. We lived near mine for 4 or 5 years a

Around 2009, I worked on an application whose web interface and API were the same url -- it was served as an XML data file, with an XSLT transform to make it pretty for the browser. It was so comfortable.

Try using the LessPhone[0] launcher. I have used it off and on and had some success with it. It locks you down to a slim set of apps (configurable), in a plain black and white interface. It's not perfect, but it's helpful. [0] ht

"Because that's how everyone else does it," or "other people will think you're weird if you're different," don't seem like very good reasons to mandate a society-wide rule on how to raise a child. Not

I have found the bullet journal format [1] to be super useful. I used to take sort of haphazard notes for meetings, etc, and it was just a pain to track information and tasks. Switching to a formal system was very helpful. I use it for work

I love my Keebio Iris; I've built three at this point, for my two work machines and my home office. 60%, split, columnar, programmable with QMK. Since they're completely split, with only a cable between them, I can place them in w

I always remapped CAPSLOCK to ESC (for Vim), though I eventually built my own keyboard (Iris from https://keeb.io ) with QMK firmware and found the best of both worlds: the key left of A is ESC if tapped, but CTRL if held down.

For any Eclipse users here (can't speak to any other IDE), many of Eclipse's features can be invoked headlessly. For a year or so I did most of my Java dev in Vim because I had to work on a remote server, and Eclipse was unusably
