So much developer rage in that Status :) On the HMM stuff, it was pretty much the baseline code from the link. The things I recall experimenting were more about getting it done faster (threading some training phases, different gcc options d

@acqq: Shameless plug. This doesn't seem to have speech. However, I've tried to build a text to speech synthesizer in www.voiceclonr.com. Appreciate if you could try and leave feedback.

I think it might help if you start looking at different technologies and languages as tools to get done. And those are guaranteed to keep changing. So you start focusing on doing or building something with those tools. This way you won'

Right now, I'd like to see if there are any tweaks that can improve the quality (or even experiment with concatenate synthesis). Most likely, it will stay robotic. So an extension to do would be to research on singing synthesis (vocalo

Thanks. Also a related effort in recent times is VocaliD. They are trying to create personalized voices from donor voices. The impact of such projects can be huge for those who need assistance.

I thought about it - but I would have been disappointed with the synthetic voice myself, so didn't even try :)

For one thing, to get a very good quality, lot of resources are needed. Studio quality recordings lasting many hours, voice directors and voice experts who can sift through wav files and ensure phoneme boundaries are aligned etc. And even w

I don't know if your response is a review on my app or the idea in itself. If it's my app, it's an iterative process like many things. I didn't know what I would end up getting, so I made an attempt.

I may not be your target market, but here's my thinking. I tend to associate Groceries w/ JIT. Usually, I buy it just in time to get fresh produce and when things in my fridge reach a low threshold. So the idea of tracking prices

Name: www.voiceclonr.com A fun text to speech side project with some famous voices. Only looking for feedback and see how I make it interesting (or if it is even worthwhile to spend more time into it:)

Great! Do you think there are any use cases with this ? For example, is the quality good enough to build a news/blog reader or a fun chat box ?

This uses http://hts.sp.nitech.ac.jp (HMM-based Speech Synthesis System). Yes, it is expected to be robotic sounding since real audio streams are not used during synthesis. Some improvements can be made I believe (larger trainin

Thanks for taking a look. Agreed Alan Rickman sounds better than others. Partly because, I couldn't harvest that many sound samples with others for training. The commercial ones have their voices recorded exclusively in studios under c
