From EngineYard: "It looks like EBS IO in the us-east-1 region is not working ideally at this point. That means all /data and /db Volumes which use EBS have bad IO performance, which can cause your sites to go down."

Not technically. Technically, they were not allowed to process PAYMENTS in the US, so most of the poker site operators moved their payment processing internationally. If you made a deposit or a withdrawal to one of these services, you would

They shouldn't be able to seize them at all. No transactions were occurring in the US, which (at least by the poker sites' arguments) makes them legal businesses.

WHOA, that's really big news for the poker industry. These are all very large, very big businesses (talking billions of dollars) in the US. Can anyone confirm if their poker clients are still functioning properly?

Neat. Do the columns/wording ("92b more than Microsoft") change dynamically if the order changes (not that it's happening anytime soon)?

I work at Myspace (but I do not speak for the company). I'm not really privy to all the information in the world here just being an engineer, but I do know that it was really expensive to lay off everyone in January, and they've definitely

Definitely "Javascript Web Applications" out of those options. Apps is misleading and informal. "Javascript Applications" is ambiguous, and the only people who will understand "Stateful" probably already know what's in the book. "Modern Jav

Design is nice, but the UI/information architecture is confusing - lot of information that I don't understand, and the nomenclature is awkward. I would suggest showing less information, i.e. you don't need to show who submitted the links on

I...couldn't resist. I am sure there is a way they could have made this more difficult, say, doing the lookup server-side.

I feel that way about a lot of these "tech bloggers." A lot of them just have the wrong combination of immaturity, poor writing skills, and little sense of journalistic integrity.

Not necessarily. AdBlock is the most popular extension for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1/cat:a... 440,000 people download it a week. That's a lot of people not even seeing their search ads!
