Maybe I'm not getting it, but I just set up an express.js app this last weekend with nothing much more than tsc (typescript) and ts-node. Do you need all that other stuff for a simple node app?

It's very easy to criticize visions, especially after the fact. Not trying to subvert this thread. Do we think that cash will still exist in 50 years time? Assuming we don't, how will it work. He had a thought (maybe crazy) and we

I read this and thought we collectively should remember to respect non-technical people at startups. Sometimes we forget. There's people behind the scenes that help drives things forward. One of the first startups I joined, I remember

I think a lot of people are getting sucked into the drama and how it's like an episode of "Silicon Valley". > This obsession with one company You're probably right. With one company controlling the direction/nar

It's sad how people have forgotten when developers built businesses on Twitters Api before they shut it down. Google routinely shuts down projects that they deem "invaluable". There be dragons.

Not sure if Lego is appropriate for a 1.5 year old (I would guess not), but growing up I didn't have many toys but one thing I played with the most, was a pathetic looking lego set. I'm not talking the fancy stuff you get nowadays

I get the impression that Mastodon server operators have a tendency to become dictators (banning accounts, speech etc), which I guess is their right as they are hosting content for free. There are questions also raised about the scalability

Sure it's not for everyone. I learnt a lot doing cash strapped startups where there wasn't a devops person. AWS can get expensive, especially when you start using more and more services (lambda, dynamodb, rds, elasticache etc) althou

I would love to get into this field to disrupt it. The whole system is antiquated. I believe it would take a lot of capital to kick it off, mainly trying to establish a 2 sided market place. The whole multiple MLS entities (per state) all s

Aren't NVidia chips made in Taiwan? The US government has banned export to China from (depending on your world point of view) a territory of China? So isn't this going to cause further pressure on China to invade Taiwan? Yes I do

For freelancers, I am occasionally seeing extremely low hourly rates (linkedin), targeted at (I assume) Latin America. i.e. $15-$20 is the lowest, but sometimes $35ph. (Pretty shocking, but if it works out for everyone, good luck to them).
