I agree. For such a simple script, requiring all these tools (npm, bower, composer, grunt), it just doesn't seem practical. Is this how people develop and deploy PHP stuff nowadays?

Why is the encoding/decoding done on the server side? You can easily do it with javascript, and fallback to normal <form> post if JS is disabled.

http://amzn.com/B006RJRBY6 - a similar product, but not so smart. I guess you could hook some IR blasters to a WiFi-enabled device (eg: OpenWRT router) and write software that replicates the same functionality.

Good job, I love it! A suggestion: add some network aware features, like GeoIP, IP/domain whois, etc. They'd have to call some external API's, but they'd fit right in.

This article is from 2010, back when the edns-client-subnet [1] draft wasn't even published. I believe most CDN's are now whitelisted with Google's and OpenDNS's edns list, so you'll much better results. also see edns-client-subnet demo [2]
