EC2 and S3 moat comes from extreme economies of scale. Only Google and Microsoft can compete. You would never be able to achieve S3 profitability because you are not going to get same hardware deals, same peering agreements, same data cente

With network of cameras large enough you can trivially profile and identify all cars without license plates.

What is even more interesting why attack Azure? It's not possible to extort anything from Microsoft, so what's the rationale?

In most tools there is no need to cut-n-paste, just click small edit icon next to the prompt, edit and resubmit. Boom, old answer is discarded, new answer is generated.

Nonsense. You can use US prescription at online Canadian pharmacy and legally ship to US. This is how a lot of people save on drugs.

Of course you can buy medicine abroad and legally bring 90 day doses. More over, you can order and ship medicine, including ozempic and zepbound, using American prescription from Canadian online pharmacies. For some drugs it’s quite cheaper

I configured my furnace to always recirculate air in the house even when burner itself is off - helps to avoid rooms with stale air and evens temperature through the house.

There are other brands that make quality quiet fans. My Vornado runs 24x7 and on minimal setting is inaudible, on second setting is very quiet. And it costs way less than a Dyson! I have two units in the house, and when I ordered second uni

I don’t get who uses Nest or other non-first party thermostats anymore: All modern furnaces/ACs/heat pumps require their own smart thermostat to work optimally. So if you install Bryant furnace, you end up with Bryant smart thermo

It used to be that there was no official TypeScript protobuf generator from Google and third-party generators sucked. Using protobufs from web browser or in nodejs was painful. Couple years ago Connect released very good generator for TypeS

In modern crypto it’s solved by using random nonce to star with and by using (encrypted) hash of data at the end. Random nonce gives you different cypher text for same inputs, hash tells you if you actually decrypted what was intended.

I wonder how much does it cost per full color letter-size print? How often do you need to clean nozzles (and how much ink is spent)? I have Epson EcoTank, which is great since I can refill it from the ink bottles (even non-Epson), but since

Reality is that we don’t know how much of a trope this statement is. I think we would get all this technology without going to the moon or Space Shuttle program. GPS, for example, was developed for military applications initially.

Of course there is this thing is that while they were coasting faster technology was developed and another ship arrived way before them, with better computers, engines, everything.

Re: orbital assembly. L1 point is bad in every respect. If most materials come from Moon, then the best assembly point is low Moon orbit (as benefit you get a boot to your launch speed to escape Earth gravity), if most material comes from E

My point is more narrow: if you have magical "direct fusion" technology (which is used in the main engines, as presentation says), you don't need regular toroidal nuclear fusion reactors, just use multiple redundant "dir

This is false example - these windmills are actively maintained and repaired, how are you going to replace massive gears or bearings in space? Are you going to bring spare parts with you?

And also it requires extraordinary navigation precision. These launches are going to be spread in time, which means that they don't happen from the same place (all celestial bodies move relative to each other). Which in turn means that

Cool concept, but some things are just strange: Power provided by toroidal nuclear fusion reactors in the outer shell of the living module, but why do you need such reactors if your primary propulsion is provided by Helium 3 - Deuterium Dir

So far the only known technology to bring embryos to life is through alive female host, so you still need healthy, and on top of that, willing population to use embryos.

The drive in this design is not yet invented Helium 3 - Deuterium Direct Fusion Drive. In your design how is it going to catch up to pellets if it's decelerating? I.e. pellets need to be pre-decelerated for this. Which raises the quest

I work on established project with medium-size codebase, copying to chat and back is just not practical. This is why Claude Code rocks - it quite often finds relevant parts itself.
