Hmm… my paddle kept getting stuck. I'd hit the arrow buttons and nothing would happen. Then it would unstick for no reason and work (after losing a point, of course). Very frustrating.

I don't want to disparage the author's hard work, as it was quite beautiful to look at, but as someone who already understands what he's talking about, I felt this was a terrible way to present it. (Like I say, it looked grea

Is this another case of using the generic term "API" to only refer to APIs related to accessing web data? I do some API-related work, but it has nothing to do with the network. However, I'm always interested in learning more

I don't find this convincing at all. I'm a classically trained pianist and cellist. I studied music at the undergraduate level, and am a former part-time working musician, and a current computer programmer. I grew up with computer

Actually, it was both content and quality. They used to advertise that a cable signal was clearer than one from an antenna and stood up to weather, etc.

I find this logic bizarre: "The US should also learn a lesson here. Because of the current, non-sensical immigration laws, Americans lost sixteen jobs." I don't see the connection. You wanted to hire someone on a visa - not a

Keep in mind that the choice you have with Netflix is not "DRM" or "No DRM". It's "Microsoft's old unsupported (or soon-to-be unsupported?) Silverlight" or "Something new that will be maintained

It's likely we were using the same browser. I'm not sure about Flash Player versions. Even if we weren't, why should that matter? I doubt we were too far off in the version numbers we used. Does YouTube do some sort of cachin

Sure, and there are lots of companies that don't have any policies against hiring women. It's just that everyone who does hire, happens to hire from their fraternity, or their best friend's recommendations (which are from his

That's great that you feel that way and that your team may not discriminate. So why can't Google post those numbers, too? It would make them look great!

Oddly my wife used to see this on her laptop in our apartment in Los Angeles. I would play a video, and it would be fine at HD. I'd ping her the link, and she would attempt to play it and it would be stuttery and crappy. I'm not s

Am I misunderstanding, or did the article gloss over the cost of keeping up your car as a driver? They talk about how renting a cab costs a certain amount up-front, plus insurance, plus some other stuff. Then they sort of hand-wave that an

Not to mention how obtuse it is to learn. Even without the backwards compatibility issues (which are very real), the entire mental model of how OpenGL works is completely messed up. Things like having a texture ID, which you then bind to a

Yeah, I pretty much immediately close any web page that has an auto play video on it. If I get a link from a friend and a video plays before it, I just close it. No interest in that stuff, especially when I'm browsing at work.

Not at all! I lived in Atlanta for a while just before the 1996 Olympics. I was paying somewhere in the $300-500 (~200-300 Euros) per month range for a 1 bedroom. It was one of the cheapest big cities in the states. I moved to Chicago that
