Individual states can have laws that force vendors to give more than 24 months. But 24 months is the legally required minimum warranty timespan for anyone selling tech in the EU.

Recently? In my book, 10 years is rather not so recent (EU Directive 1999/44/EC came into affect January 2002). http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:...

As I wrote, they did have crazy EUR prices before, compared to USD. When you ask any sales rep. of any big brand in Europe about this, they always use the "24 months warranty vs 12 months elsewhere" excuse. I'd never buy anything from Apple

Yes, everything is copyright its creator. I guess my point was that all that doesn't matter if the original design doesn't exhibit enough originality (I used the term 'novel'). To give an example: if I have an A4 page with left aligned text

Can you show us some references to this law? In Europe you can apply for design patents. Afaik doing so costs a four digit sum in EUR plus the patent lawyer that writes the legalese for you. However, to get such a patent the design must cle

Really nice! But I do not get the C64 editor look stuff. I mean why not add syntax highlighting and make this more eye friendly (neither requires abandoning a cute color scheme)? I never had a C64, I saved 2 years so I could afford a 286, I

Not necessarily. You can live wherever you like and still have a software business in another country. Software does not require a physical office space. You (or the people you may employ) can work from home or from a co-working space. As s

I am a non-native speaker (NNS) and got 15.700. I think this test is not very telling for NNSs as it doesn't consider specialist vocabulary which many of us have a lot of of, because of how we /really/ learned the language. When I left scho

The title is slightly exaggerating as pretty much all top grade image editing software uses linear space, internally, and hence gets this right. Examples are DigitalFusion, The Foundry's Nuke and Apple's discontinued Shake. When working in
