In the past few years tech like 100G Coherent DWDM have reduced latency by 10-20% on longhaul fiber links, as dispersion compensation fiber is no longer needed. Other companies have simply opted to pull out the slack in the fiber to decreas

Netflix has 28TB of Flash storage in a 1U box (e3-12xxv2, 125w system power usage) with 40Gbit/s of Network capacity, which gets fully saturated. They run BSD, and Nginx, I believe. This would double their density.

I had this issue the other day, and yep - I hope its fixed.

I think this is Google's long term plan, and its a pretty great one. You will literally be connected anywhere on the globe with Google Fiber based HetNet wireless, and wifi beamed down on the rest of the earth from Balloons.

You can fix the problem in your home network buy using a recent OpenWRT package and installing qos-scripts, and capping your connection to ~10-20% lower than your provisioned speeds, this will enable fq_codel. You can also change your tc sc

Buffer Bloat is a real thing, it has to do with how the queuing algorithms work - I'm not the best at explaining it. I think it's mainly an issue in home routers / cable modems - but it cant hurt to do some Active Queue Manag

If CloudFlare is using Kernel version 3.3 or higher, they should look into using fq_codel as their scheduler instead of pfifo_fast to decrease latency under load. I suspect the 16MB buffer in the NIC isn't doing them any favors.

You can get them for MUCH lower than that - the line card & optics costs of 100G are falling pretty quickly. Newer routers with >4x100G (e.g. 10x) will be pretty interesting (CFP2).

This was not the case on my device. I was able to recover all of the snaps I was ever sent, even after viewing them all. I found after looking at the Android code, there is a deleteVideoDirectory method, but no deleteImageDirectory method.

I can get a MicroCloud chassis for $500 per server (x8), with the rest of the hardware working out to around another $700-800 per node (x8 again). Slightly lower density, but not too bad.

If you want 'real' servers with that density: http://www.supermicro.nl/products/nfo/FatTwin.cfm http://www.supermicro.nl/products/nfo/2UTwin2.cfm http://www.supermicro.nl/products/nfo/MicroCloud.cfm Those would all be cheaper than the

They are routing this through Azure, their bandwidth bill is going to be through the roof.
