Obamacare exploded the cost. It’s hollow succor to say the rocketing costs are accelerating less. All your supposed evidence shows is that the markets are getting worse. The ACA is plagued by dine and dashers. https://johnhcochra

When I worked with Clojure the community seemed to treat macros as a nuclear option. Only use them when absolutely necessary. For some, this translated to “you can’t hug your children with nuclear arms”. If the community hasn’t changed, per

Your last sentence is pure speculation. There was never an equivalent rise. The spike is due, in part, by the ACA’d requirements that covered more than the original plans covered. Some of use didn’t want to cover those costs. When I priced

That’s quiet an escalation in both of mental ability to take a life and crime level. Armed robbery is lower than murder one. It’s also a jump to think that you’d go from relative coward to iron man murderer.

You need to come to Florida. Many people are armed. In the small cities and rural areas the places with the most crime are the places with the least amount of legal guns. For example, my home is in the last block of the historic district. O

The police in the US a) don't attack people as often as it feels like, and b) know there is a good chance that the jury won't hold them responsible due a belief that police are inherently good. The police are not a valid compariso

I can draw and fire from my hip (and pocket) and hit center mass at 8 feet in two seconds. I also train to look like I'm cowering and reaching for my wallet in my back hip pocket. As to the topic of crime, cities with high gun ownershi

No, it’s not. If the majority of the adult population was armed, crime would drop. If you’re a criminal and know there is a 90% chance your target will be armed, will you attack? How about if the target is two people. The only irony is thin

Just get a gun. Kahr is like $250-300. LCP I is $180. It's a great pocket gun. I walk in one of the poorest cities in Florida at night. Not worried. Almost had to draw not due to people, but 2 strays. Learn to draw from the hip. If you

Let it go. So consuming. One of the best things of my self inflicted phone ADHD is that I don't care for movies or TV. I start a movie, then think, "This is not worth it". I stop. I never return. Slowly I've come to acc

The only way to maybe prevent some of the echo chamber is to have no smart suggestions. Just show things as they occur. Don't say, "Oh, you're a leftist. You'll love this SJW diatribe". Same thing for the right. Sam

I've seen that. My understanding is that you can compress CSS, images, pretty much anything that does not require a secret. So if your sending a secret to get an image, I think you're doing something wrong. If you keep the secret

I'm confused. I carry a gun daily. I don't do drugs. I don't destroy public property, and I do all my creepy things in private. Having freedom does not mean you're a bad person. It means you are free to be who you are. F

Three things. Core, to my knowledge doesn't compile. It has an option to bundle the VM, but I've never played with it much. Two, I solely run Linux. My understanding is that Linux is still the redheaded step child of MS. Finally,

I'm moving to Go, as much as I dislike the language. Java is bulky. I need to buy servers from Linode, but on a budget. Because Java 11 is not supported on the alpine docker, the apps take up 512 MB even with stack set to 128k and heap

DO is cheaper for the servers. AWS is nice, but expensive. If you have the money, use it. If you are bootstrapping or willing to take on challenges yourself, DO like environments will save you a lot.

Aside from instantiating a DataFrame, I've written scikit/numpy/pandas code with nothing more than functions and data structures.

Personal choice. Some people like the idea of splitting the data from the functions that operate on it. Others don't like mutability and presume that OOP requires it. Scala and other languages make it easy to have immutability and OOP.

Sounds like you discovered that OOP and Functional are the same thing. Closures are the poor-person's objects. Objects are the poor person's Closures. If you never mutate the internals of an Object, or mutate with copy, isn't

You still have issues of needing a JVM. The JVM is not a small runtime considation. I'm in the process of converting to GO since I have more time than money. 1 JVM in Docker uses 512 MB to sit still. A Go version is around 16.

Could the market solve this problem better than the goverment? https://labdoor.com . What's missing now is enough people to negatively review products on Amazon and the like. Perhaps that could be automated.

To do so you’d step out of the JEE spec. Spring and others are trying to bridge this. Legacy DB drivers are a problem. For example, last I checked PG driver was still tread focused for concurrency and transactions.
