I liked the article. Many things mentioned there are inconvenient truths. Claiming that a particular high level language must be learnt in order to understand how computers work is somewhat paradoxical - a hll is meant to abstract details,

This seems to be a bit of oversell, similar to how a gifted musician might declare that music can cure all diseases, including cancer. We must take care to ensure that AI doesn't end up atrophying intelligence of humans, and make us it

Tangential. From what I have seen happen around me, the "new skill" isn't really as new as it seems; it is just tweaking and reapplying the already present skill. To use human languages as an example, a monolingual English sp

I realized that software engineering is not engineering as in applied physics, but more like engineering as in creating things. The opinions of experts are just that, opinions, and there is no need to adopt everything. They are not exactly

No. I always had a purpose to program more than the client needing it. I have always worked on products, and was always allowed to explore my creativity, so that might also be a reason. Programming was always "goal oriented" for m

Applying physics to understand human behavior is same as applying human intuition to explain physics. Any correlations found, which are anyway "fitted", are bound to breakdown. Firstly we don't understand physics fully. We ha

I am not an expert in AI/ML, just a casual observer, but I didn't like the tone of the article. Not only it fixates on the speed of processing, it also seems smug and acts as if we know how human brain sees and processes images, w

Firstly, smart people know that we don't know everything, and probably can't, and science, as we have formulated it, can't explain everything. Its often the less smart and the wannabes that go around touting science as the ul
