Thanks, I didn't notice the date of the blog post and certainly didn't mean it as a personal affront because I appreciate the post. I'm going to switch to the nightly branch to try it out!

I got my hopes up a little too quickly. Turns out "now" => "soon". The extensions in question, linked in the post, still display the same message of not being available for Android, and the article says the change wil

Unfortunately not to some here in Switzerland. The average adult here pays around $350 USD/month for just their coverage, according to official statistics. The total cost for a family might end up less than $1400, but not by much. Edit

I generally agree with a minor quibble: There isn't an identity card that can be used as a passport. There are identity cards that are sufficient for limited travel and are unrecognized elsewhere. In the relatively widespread EU++ ID c

My Android device allows for completely disabling location access (regardless of whether the app requires it) or for allowing access while the app is in use, as you mentioned. I'm never sure if these features are OEM additions or featu

Sure, but doing something "for the hell of it" implies it has virtually no practical value, at least to my ears. It's rather unproductive for someone (not you, in this case) to use a sweeping inflammatory statement when they

Unfortunately I can't easily test this as my phone doesn't have the Google Contacts app and I sync my contacts with a CardDAV server, not my Google account.

The content of these updates is what is potentially concerning. Considering how much Play Services now handles, regular updates aren't that surprising, and like I said Android ≠ Google so this doesn't apply to all Android phones.
