Most of the countries that have sane case rates and many that are doing terribly with respect to case rate already require this. Some such as the Netherlands added it relatively recently for transit passengers as well, although most only re

Per capita it's really most of western Europe and the US that are struggling, and the US is doing better on vaccinations so far while it has had a higher case and death rate than most but not all of Europe. It's rather misleading

I love that Signal generally seems receptive to features that users ask for. It's far from perfect, as there are certain features I've seen repeatedly requested that are still yet to be implemented, but over the years that I'

To be fair (to iOS users, not to Signal), the device transfer procedure on Android is somewhat more cumbersome as a result. iOS gets the smooth new device-to-device direct transfer of the backup while Android users need to copy the encrypte

I think India's Unified Payments Interface is a better analogy here. From what I understand (as an outsider, so based only on what I've read) it provides a universal API for mobile applications to interface with banks, essentially

Is this in a smaller rural town or a home very far out? Every metropolitan area I've seen at least has near-universal cable TV/internet coverage (typically up to 50-300 Mbps), and even exurbs these days often have fiber.

Pre-Brexit, those in the UK were immigration controls, to be precise. In Switzerland they are in fact customs controls (and not typically immigration controls barring Schengen restrictions such as those during COVID-19).
