"Move fast and break things" very accurately reflects the state of Javascript development in 2019. Libraries and frameworks, and node/npm themselves move so quickly that APIs, versions, ways of doing things -- all break so qu

Thanks for the pointers -- I'm pretty familiar with Blockstack and the Gaia ecosystem. I started playing around with it a couple of years ago, and registered [1] my ID in 2017 maybe? or 2018? I forget. Of course, it was much more bare

The biggest challenge I've seen with using decentralized systems today is with on-boarding the average user into them. As @woah mentions, the process isn't straightforward and even remotely close to signing for a facebook or ig ac

Great job! A categorization system (especially if it can be crowdsourced/edited via github) would be great, since these datasets are likely to be useful across multiple domains - and not just "CV" or "NLP" - I'

This is a very interesting observation. The whole point of speech to text models being biased towards the US in terms of training data and innovation is valid not only across the larger things (gender/race/religion) but just small

Could you elaborate why this is so impressive? As I understand it, it's because things like TF or PyTorch can only AD specific things as part of a spec vs generic functions like this?

Contrarian thought here - but I stopped saving things. I was a very heavy user of pocket, pinboard, delicious et al for web articles. For academic papers I use Mendeley. I now make an active effort to read the article as I discover it - the

Great piece, but I was struck with a thought about the researcher’s name. Maurice Temerlin - that last name is so close to “Tamerlane”, the mongol ruler that I wonder if there’s any correlation at all or would it just be a coincidence that

The biggest pro IMO is that you get to see how a startup is built without having to take all the risk as a founder. Not everyone is in a position to jump in to a risk taking venture on their own, or have the ideas that lead them there. This

My JPB Story (from ~1998): I grew up in New Delhi in the late 90s on a steady diet of 2600, phrack, BBSes and the EFF/internet. Two of the people I'd read a lot about and was very inspired by were JPB and Mitch Kapor, as founders
