I mean if someone else wants to give them billions of dollars to make an AGI that they think will extinct humanity while not commercializing or open sourcing the tech they do have because they're scared of extinction, then be my guest.

I really don't get the comparison of nfts to llms. I mean yeah some hype cycle idiots have redirected both of their brain cells to shilling useless startups that'll get obsoleted by minor feature additions to bard or whatever in a

Software engineering for sure. Lots of SV types have a very distorted view of what the average programmer not in a high prestige silicon valley company does. Especially contractors and outsourcing firms and the like? Yeah not great for them

I don't think Microsoft cares about that crowd, since now without capital they can't really do anything anyway. The rest of the crowd that wants to make bank? Might be more appealing

From satyas tweet Sam's new division/subsidiary is going to run more like LinkedIn or GitHub, and openai has pretty explicitly just declared that they don't like making money, so I don't think the comp is gonna be an iss

Given the recent updates, yep they definitely missed lol. That's a lot of "openai is nothing without its people" tweets, including from the interim CEO...

I mean, waiting 30 minutes to not release it before market close and pissing off Microsoft is a very obvious thing that it's still staggering that they didn't handle correctly. Immediately pissing off your biggest financial suppor

They put out a statement saying they have what they need. I don't see how Microsoft loses here. Either they get altman back at openai and get rid of the ethics crowd and make bank, or they find his new startup without the move slow cro

Right and thats what I'm saying. It's messy. They screwed up. Messy is bad. If they needed to get rid of him this last minute and make a statement 30 minutes before market close, then the failure happened earlier.

Whether or not you agree with the decision they obviously screwed up the execution something awful. This is humiliating for them and honestly setting altman free like they did was probably the permanent end of AI safety. Just take someone w

Practically all of the US includes almost everywhere I have lived except for major cities. Especially in the Midwest and ESPECIALLY in the South walking to get groceries is a death wish.

He was the chair of the board. And they were wrong very quickly. It very much sounds like they spoke for him. Or he pretended that he was going to stay and then backstabbed them. Which, given how strongly aligned with altman he seems to be,

They also said Greg was going to stay at the company and then he immediately quit. I find it very hard to believe that smart, savvy, and self interested are adjectives that apply to a board who doesn't know what their own chairman thin

Announcing something huge like this before market close is not something that can be interpreted as anything other than either a huge timing mistake or a massive feeling of urgency
