I was under the impression that V8 and the like are so optimized that this would give marginal gains. Would love to be wrong though. Do you have any performance benchmarks?

Great stuff! Could there be an option to disable the notification for certain "less security critical remotes"?

It used to be illegal to direct TV ads at kids in Sweden but it's now been legalized to harmonize with the TV channels that were broadcasting from the UK. Even though it's legal the networks have refrained from doing it as far as

I was just addressing the issues outlined in the post. I would hardly define ClojureScript as a language that came from JavaScript. Naturally there are cases when a typed language is better than a dynamic one.

The solution is called React Native. - Single file app: Check - Super fast rebuild: Check - Dynamic language (high reusability and one-liners): Check (Use ClojureScript to take this even further)

Floki is a great lib, used it to write a very basic URL polling CLI tool in just 72 lines of code: https://github.com/vikeri/proba/blob/master/lib/proba.ex

The advanced compilation mode does some pretty powerful dead code removal and minification [1]. I guess that is available from plugins in Babel as well but Google has been using it for Gmail, Google.com etc, so it's quite battle tested

Having a lot of issues with our merge requests never merging and just spinning forever.[1] Would like Gitlab to put a little more focus on those kinds of dealbreaker issues. Would hate to give up such a great product because of things like

Does this have to be the case? I have a couple of long running processes that I would really like to check the output of from time to time. Couldn't you have an option to just show the last line for example? Was super excited to see th

Yes, but I was addressing the issue of writing JavaScript, not using its ecosystem. And the lack of a high quality standard library is elegantly solved in ClojureScript by using the Google Closure library.

For all the hate of JS, I'm developing a RN app in ClojureScript, so I rarely touch JS and instead use what I percieve to be a nicer language: https://youtu.be/6IYm34nDL64

You can build RN apps in ClojureScript and, voila: You rarely have to touch JS. Edit (it's not without its flaws though): https://youtu.be/6IYm34nDL64

The manual release feature is great! I was just pondering on how to do that. For anyone wondering where to start with Gitlab CI I wrote a short post about our very simple but still very useful CI setup: https://pilloxa.gitlab.io&

Excellent! I always think that people, like myself, that work with somewhat abstract and/or complex concepts need to improve our ability to explain them. Really happy to see a concrete method to do this.

Any plans on supporting Gitlab and Gitlab Pages? Would also be stoked if it was open source, I'd probably still pay for the service but just knowing that it is OSS and that I could tweak it myself would be great.

The performance is impacted, avoiding premature optimizations I haven't looked into that part yet though. Without any performance optimizations I'm experiencing performance better than HTML5 but not really on par with native. To m

I spoke to a solutions architect on AWS who said that their recommendation for building a new backend service (eg. a REST API) is to use API gateway and Lambda. I definitely got the impression that he meant full-fledged apps.

If you use react native on mobile and react on the web the core model and business logic can easily be shared since it is just pure js. And you can use any of the languages that transpiles to js: TypeScript, Clojurescript etc.
