They give him all the credit because that is the story given by FB, its a large part of their marketing strategy.

That wouldn't be the first time I mix up my metaphors, thanks for the correction!

Since people seem to dislike my comment, I will explain my point. "A home run" means "ultimate success", you can not expect to do any better than that. Since pg has openly stated that he is looking for the next Google/Facebook type compan

I don't think pg will consider an exit a home run until it exceeds 1B.

This should put a hop in the step of all those Heroku-for-Django startups.

In part because of YC, but in general because of, well... the internet. Stories spread.

He is pointing out the hipocrisy of FB, they say that this shouldn't be possible but they make it possible as long as it is on their terms.

Good for you, it always warms my heart to see someone taking these first steps. Try to notice your own reactions, its good to be reminded of when you yourself were a novice.

I had the same thought, Stack Overflow is the canonical iceberg in this context. I hope this will pull the blinders from some peoples eyes.

Sort of like asking "Am I in love?", "Am I popular?", if you have to ask, the answer is no.

Heh, fair point. Just goes to show that once you label someone a startup in your head, you can be blinded to such obvious facts!

It would be interesting if they managed to cut the ties to Motorola completely after the spinoff? One can imagine the BigCo mindset prevailing even after leaving the mothership.

Hopefully this can evolve into being the canonical tool for data startups, data cleaning should not be a differentiating factor. Value extraction should be the differentiator.

Agreed, did I read somewhere that you were contemplating offering a wireframe version as well?

That mockups should be wireframes like Balsamiq. They are right that is the stronger model (I love Balsamiq) but that doesnt mean that there isnt room for other ways.

Don't worry about the detractors, they may well be right but the only way to find out is to go on and make this tool as good as it can be. Then we will know if there is a market.

The first one "1. Creating and evaluating at the same time" is huge, see what happens in a brainstorming session when someone starts picking apart ideas. The whole session dies. There is plenty of time later to shoot down the bad stuff.

If you would take a salary fit to live on (for some value of fit!) what would the numbers look like?

Thats just the revenue, surely there are some costs that offset that number. Still quite nice.
