1-level threads is not enough. You fork a thread for a new topic, and users can keep derailing the topic with tangents inside of that thread. The traditional chat client expects the convention of users going back to the main room to create

In physical card games you can use proxies (fake or invented cards). And if they stop selling the game, you own a physical object so you can keep teaching friends and playing with them like any other tabletop game.

Nice conventions! Would be cool to have the frontend be wasm-compiled rust instead of typescript.

I already achieve that by creating my own private spaces, where I distribute the rooms I am in as I see fit. Plus, I join the spaces of whatever topic I want to, too.

You are moving goalposts. This legislation is not the end all be all, and only applies to those with ~7 billion capitalisation (so, Alphabet, Meta, Apple, Microsoft, and little more). If you want to solve all those problems, you can use and

Why wouldn't you be able to bump the API of your messaging app? Sounds orthogonal to me. You are required to publish a working and open API. You are doing it. They can consume the new API with the new default cypher.

The linked TED talk on the article explains it nicely. A phone book is created with a finite set (numbers, letters, words in English), but that finite set can be used to produce an infinite set. You can always produce a new result by appendi

The Axolotl ratchet is the basis of both current Signal and WhatsApp. The standarized layer you are looking for is Matrix, which uses the same encryption approach.

This sounds for the better. Not having code mirrors (as other distribution channels) sounds not just insecure, but borderly malicious.

I would love to see a Git+Matrix forge, completely decentralised. With the spaces and the upcoming threads, seems like it wouldn't be so difficult to create a client that exposes that. It would be easier to make it closer to Gerrit tha

someone should just 3d print a back case for the pinephone that exposes them. Or better, instruct on how to cut the current case, and 3d print a lever system that matches the hole, for easily action on the switches from outside.

I don't like Armbian. They support boards by forking the kernel and distributing it ilegally, for example by linking openssl, meanwhile other providers (e.g. Debian) try to do the correct thing, and reimplement or substitute them for

One can support Mozilla (and Mullvad by extension), and a sizeable user portion only cares about Wireguard, not openVPN etc.

All of that will come to Linux UI once there's a network-manager-wireguard plugin, the same that one can do it for openVPN and the like now. Wireguard is still new, and network-manager was still finding the correct UX a year ago.
