Sorry about that. Clearly deciding to write git myself instead of fixing the problems with all cross-compilation was a terrible idea. I've now reverted back to libgit2, since I don't need to access it via Dart -> Flutter Messag

I use F5Bot [1] to monitor mentions of GitJournal. I see. This task is probably just an hour or two. I'll try to get to it this week. It'll be a fun small task. - [1] https://f5bot.com/

I'm happy that you liked it. Out of curiosity, if you had to select one thing I could do to improve your GitJournal experience, what would it be?

I didn't know it was required. I'll shoot them an email and ask, and start thinking of a different name. In the case of Gitea [0], there doesn't seem to have been any response. Thanks for bringing this up. Though I wonder how

I love how more and more of us are using Git to store our notes, though in this case it's more coupled to GitHub than Git. If there is already a need to self-host this, then why not just hook into git and make this more generic? In fac

Hello GitJournal author here. I was surprised to read "surprised" cause even if GitJournal choose badly, the history is still there. Nevertheless thanks for letting me know. I'll bump it in my internal Todo list.

Surprisingly, I don't mind that at all. It takes a few seconds and they are really upfront about it. I can imagine OkCupid charging for such a filtering feature, but I've never paid for it just didn't seem "worth it"

Or you can set your own password on Android, and therefore not require rooting. (WhatsApp gives you that option) I do that for my own backups. Download them via Google Drive [0] and then use this tool to decrypt them [1][2] [0] https:/

This sounds a bit defeatist. Yes, it won't be perfect at first, but there is always a chance of reducing the barrier to entry. The lower it is, the more % of users / developers / apps are going to use it.

> A formal spec also doesn't help much for apps to use this format. There is not a huge need for portability between to do apps, and for most users to do items are ephemeral and not something that needs to be archived and revisited.

I'd recommend renting / buying a powerful (x64?) machine accessible over the internet. Ever since I did that docker on Mac became bearable. That coupled with vscode remote development even allows me to easily mount volumes. Plus I

How would this handle CI/CD jobs which need to be run on a mac? From what I understand, everything needs to be a container, and that doesn't work for xcode.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. Countries (and citizens by proxy) have a right to decide how they want services to function in their respective countries. Any company can choose to follow those regulations or voluntarily stop servi

I'm the GitJournal author. I'd be open to adding the zim wiki syntax support, assuming I can have at least one designated person who uses Zim, and can test things out and report issues. GitJournal now has basic support for OrgMode

Baloo Author here, though I haven't contributed code for over 4 years now. Baloo used to use Xapian under the hood, like Recoll, when initially launched, but in 2014 (I think?) I moved away from it to a custom DB built on top of LMDB.

Minor nitpick: The files are initially stored with zlib compression. Each "commit" stores the entire file. The compression into a packfile is where the diffs between files are computed and stored.

This is interesting to hear. When I was implementing it in KMail, I was looking at Thunderbird, and envious of their fancy search UI. I had plans of implementing something similar, but it never panned out.
