Does your OS use protected memory? Why? If you knew all your programs, and that they are well-behaved, there is no need for that. But we do use protected memory. And IOMMU (you know all the peripherals that you connect to your computer as w

Ubuntu single-handedly delayed Wayland adoption by years. They didn't switch to Wayland by default, because the apps weren't ready. The apps weren't ready, because they ran on current Ubuntu just fine, so why would they chang

With hero3 it is not a problem, see the very first sentence. It does not stream over usb. There's no app to simulate webcam on the host operating system. Hero3 outputs hdmi, you use some hdmi-to-usb dongle, which are plain old USB UVC

RDP is not that different from networked X11 as you think it is. RDP originally also transmitted GDI commands, just like X11 transmitted X11 commands. RDP can also remote only a single app (it is called RemoteApp), it is not bound to remoti

Both Firefox and Chrome can get the kerberos ticket themselves, but it is necessary to whitelist sites that can use spnego. For Firefox, the settings are separate for ntlm and spnego, so one can be disabled and the other whitelisted. Intere

As someone who normally doesn't use iOS, it is always a chore to find what I'm looking for. That means that the logic of the hierarchy is not intuitive and to use it, you need learned behaviour.
