It is definitely overkill. RouterOS can be managed using a GUI, with an app called Winbox. It is windows application, but runs fine under wine, arm macs included. You still need to know the concepts, but in a nice clicky way.

You can bridge the ports, if you want. But you would probably want to hide BMC access behind a VPN. This Mikrotik device has a third port, a 1000Base-T one. That should be plenty for BMC.

That's entirely different problem, and US-internal one: privatization of the profits and socializing of the losses.

There doesn't need to be any sense of urgency; see all the people complaining that there is no screen casting API? Well, it was implemented three years ago by all three major compositors, and they still didn't manage to notice.

He can't, since the gfx part of Wayland is a thin, event-based abstraction over the modern hardware. It basically manages buffers between the hardware and clients. The comparison to Qt, Gtk or Electron is also very wrong; it is an enti

Discrete GPUs have ~20% share of the entire GPU market. For the vast majority, this is a non-issue. Additionally, the Nvidia problems under Linux are very well known, so getting a Nvidia GPU for Linux is a self-inflicted problem.

Wayland in itself has no special requirements on the GPU; it needs standard kernel support (KMS, dmabuf). EGL is optional, for both compositors and apps. Mutter and Sway can both happily run in QEMU framebuffer.
