There is no point arguing the semantics of English in a legal discussion. >one is actively refraining from taking an action.

That's ridiculous. When people use men in this context, they refer to humanity as a whole. Don't confuse your lack of English understanding as being PC.

Your argument can be further extended as "what's the point of living when eventually everything will cease to exist anyway". But ultimately, it's these small wins along the way that help push humanity forward. I'm not going to open the "wha

The specific way Scala is bound to the JVM (as a 8mb class library that needs to be loaded every time) is the reason it is slow to compile and by implication, slow-er startup. I suppose we do need to take account of language features. C++ i

Except Scala has no 'break' (that isn't a hack using exceptions), this makes imitating imperative style difficult and some syntaxical sugar should no doubt ensure that Scala will always be slower than Java.

Sorry, but your Ruby code will never the same speed as C code, even if it is the same implementation. We'd all like to believe all programming languages are equal, but that's not the case.

It's unfortunate that Scala is fatally flawed because it was bound to the JVM. Having java interop is both a blessing and a curse. The sheer scale of the language implemented as a java library pretty crippled compile time.

How can Scala be state of the art when it is so bad. They probably meant to say newest, in which case I nominate Dart to take Scala's place.

Apple products just suck on windows. Look at the massive piece of shit that is Quicktime and iTunes. I don't think that anyone that has used either wants to use another Apple product on windows.

The article didn't present any evidence of genocide. Only organ harvesting was substantiated.

Because slavery under Dalai Lama's system was much better right? You seem to think that it was a semi-utopia under Dalai Lama's rule, but it was still a backward, primitive system enforced and governed by religion.

This article isn't about harvesting organs from people that were going to die/dead/dying. This article accusing China of genocide against the Uighurs, which is complete bullshit.
