I'll own up to it :) It was a 5 minute rant to be honest, not a well thought out exposition on OpenID's various shortcomings. So, apologies if it was inarticulate/verbose. I really should clean it up and edit before I submit to YC. I mod

Fair point. YC exists not to be on your board or help run the business, but to help you get to the people that will do those things. Which, I consider, to be a valuable service. Have you had any contact with Sequoia? If so, what are they

So if it isn't the users and it isn't the revenue, then Facebook's insane valuations are the product of... hype? Valuations aside, you're right in saying what really matters is monetization and this is where Google shines. I don't care how

Do you think more bands/artists adopting Radiohead's model or at least selling DRM free music at low prices (much lower than iTunes .99) will make a dent in the piracy distribution model? I suppose they'd have to be in a centralized web loc

We've been through this :P Twitter had scaling problems because they had such a massive onslaught on their systems. Any language/framework would've buckled a little under that stress. I'm not saying RoR is perfect (its not...) and it has

It gets easier and easier to tell. Spend some time on reddit, for example, and you'll gradually differentiate comments that are posted as rational arguments (and inviting discussion) and troll comments which are posted to bait users into a

So because a majority doesn't care, we're not allowed to critically assess Facebook's shortcomings or voice our opinions over its policies? Winer is simply stating his opinion and pointing out the lack of openness when it comes to Facebook'

It's not a question of benefit. I'm not arguing that Gore's promotion of the Global Warming threat wasn't a great benefit, but that he did not deserve the Nobel PEACE Prize. Evangelizing the Global Warming movement doesn't promote peace in

I agree there are slight advantages to images, but there is still something lost in translation. How would explain a concept such as searching? Or a hyperlink? Granted those are some contrived examples, but whatever problems we have with

Some criticism: What would be the point? Sure it might be technically interesting to code etc. but this just introduces inefficiency to communication. There's a reason we evolved from cave paintings and hieroglyphics to written form.
